WAS 2017 CENSUS A SUCCESS?

Sir,

I’m so grateful to be given this privilege to lay down my concerns, views in your widely read newspaper. In so doing you have assisted one or two people to know what is happening in the vicinity.

One of the tremendous and exciting moments for an individual is when you are told ‘the board of directors and management would like to congratulate you for being the successful candidate for the recently advertised post’. The same interesting words of gratitude were used by some of the 2017 census recruiters when hiring our brothers and sisters for the crucial activity that was conducted approximately five months back. This interesting moment came as a great beacon light of hope to most people of this country.

Now there is still that very same cry out for help around all the corners of the country. None of the emulators have received their salary; none of them have made progress with what they had planned. Some are drowning in debt and you may never know, perhaps some are even dead. They probably passed away without having tasted the joys of their sweat. Nothing at all; is there any interesting thing anymore?

Now is the time to get solid, valid and comprehensive responses from the Central Statistics office. This is no time of engaging in cooling off or to take the tranquilising drug of gradualism. We want to know what is happening! Why are we not being paid since we did our part? Where are we supposed to run to for help?
