WATER RATIONING UPON US AGAIN?

Font size: Decrease font Enlarge font

 Sir,

Most people in the country did not enjoy 2016 as a result of the scarcity of water which came with the drought that hit the kingdom. Residents of Mbabane and surrounding areas were subjected to water rationing something they were not familiar with and I believe they would not want to go through that again.

The Swaziland Water Services Corporation found itself having to find ways of finding sources of water to alleviate the inconvenience that was being experienced by the residents and that is an effort which I believe was appreciated by many.
The summer season is now upon us and seeing that there was not enough rain to curb this scenario from happening again, therefore my concern now is what has the water services company done to enhance its water conservation initiatives. It looks like we will again be faced with a similar situation. One can only hope that the company has taken the necessary steps in as far as water conservation is concerned.

I wrote this letter as I am gravely concerned about the possibility of going through what we went through last year. On many occasions it has been mentioned that weather patterns will frequently be unpredictable therefore it goes without saying that they should be at the forefront of improving on their water conservation methods. As an entity for the people it should be informing us to put us at ease on what is being done because water rationing is not an alternative we would like to experience again.
