CHIEF APPEAL TO THE GOVERNMENT

Font size: Decrease font Enlarge font

Sir,

As a writer, it’s my job to interrogate and be the voice of the feeble and defenceless.
We all know that Swaziland is not in an exceptional state financially and we all know that the youth, especially women are the engines driving the economy of the world.

A few weeks ago i was shocked by a headline that said a 19-year-old girl was a mother of five children. That stunned me; I mean the girl is a teenager.
Most ladies, single mothers who are laid off, who have family members to take care of, end up doing things for men just to get what they need and the same applies to men.

They are habitually enthusiastic to bargain money regardless of the age, as long as they get what they want.
That is why I am pleading with government to think about giving all teenage mothers grants, those who just completed high school and staying at home so they can be able to take care of themselves.

Some men refuse to take responsibility and be fathers to their babies, which leaves the women unattended financially such that it becomes very easy for the woman to get tempted into sexual relations with a man who is offering her some cash.
My call to government is that may it please take this matter or should I say proposal into consideration, it’s for the best of the Swazi nation.
