EQUATION OF MAKING RIGHT DECISIONS

Sir,

According to the Oxford Dictionary decision-making is ‘the ability to decide something clearly and quickly.’ Decisions come in many forms, some are well thought, some are rash decisions, where much thought may have not been applied, which some in turn lead to foolishness.

I have tried to draw an equation from five terms; foolishness, vigilance and discretion. Foolishness according to my understanding is making a decision that will put your work or life in jeopardy. Vigilance is the ability to look out for possible dangers before making a decision while discretion is making a decision after carefully looking out for the possible dangers and outcomes. In Proverbs the Bible states that vigilance saves your life almost daily.

Looking at the three words stated above I came up with a simple equation that can help save lives, add productivity as well as develop innovative and creative people. The equation is as follows; vigilance + discretion = productivity + safety - foolishness. This equation generally means that before making any decision think about it, look for possible dangers, think about it again and make a decision that will eliminate foolishness while at the same time making sure that people are safe and productivity is increased (success).

Making the right decision saves both time and effort; it is the main reason why we have these different machines and technologies. This is so because someone decided to come up with an invention that changed the way people lived and the way people viewed the world.

Watts sat down and decided to come up with electricity, Bill Gates came up with Windows, Mark decided to come up with Facebook, Steve Jobs with Apple, and so many others sat down and decided. This is a simple indication that the right decision leads to the right results. Let’s lead a life of proper decision-making and lead a peaceful life.
