‘JUSTICE DELAYED IS JUSTICE DENIED’

Font size: Decrease font Enlarge font

Sir,

Thank you for giving me space to express my feelings about the arrest and incarceration of Sebendzile Thango, Phindile Gwebu and Ethel Matsebula with regards the E50m saga.

Their case is just that of ‘Justice delayed justice denied’. I strongly believe that these elderly people who are fit to be described as senior citizens were denied justice because of the case being prolonged for over 10 years. Some of the witnesses in the case had died. I don’t sincerely believe that all those accused of having been part of the looting are innocent.

I am of the view that the people who have just been convicted could be best asked to pay back the money and if they fail, then sent to gaol. I believe these people have been unfairly treated. If we call Swaziland a Christian country, then everyone should seriously think about these ‘gogos’ who are supposed to do jail time, taking their advanced age into consideration. Many people in this country have looted more than that in State funds but they are parading along the streets with impunity.

I must say that I do not know any of these women but having been a witness to this E1.6 billion job creation at Mavuso Trade Centre till today, I strongly believe that justice has been denied these women.

People have conned the unsuspecting public millions, they have built mansions from their loot but have not been convicted, so good people do something about these people.
John Matsebula Jnr

NOTE: This letter was forwarded to the registrar of the High Court of Swaziland to afford them the right to reply but unfortunately there has been no response.
