I HAVE A REASON

Sir,

I have a reason to believe in the goodness of mankind. I have a reason to believe in the goodness and humility of humans. I have a reason without doubt to believe in the idea of love, the sanctity of marriage and partnership.

I have a reason to believe in the goodness of sharing and servanthood, the thought that above all there is, may be trouble, distress, discomfort, loss, defeats, shame and certainly corruption, we are all inspired to wake up every morning to make our lives better, those of others and ultimately the world over.

I have a reason to believe that every word well spoken doesn’t go without notice, that every honest expression makes a certain difference, that every step taken in the right direction gets to  better destination. My reasoning is without fail that “He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.” Then I wonder, why shouldn’t I continue to be a reasonably good human?

To pursue my dreams in honesty, to protect my sister, to protect my brother, to love my neighbour, to perform my responsibilities with honour, to respect my elders and community, just maybe, I am quite closer to my destination. It is reasonable that no one stops trying, goodness is hard-earned.

However, I also have a reason to believe that there are insane people. Individuals whose sanity is in contrast to the general status quo.
These people breed in badness. Right is to a number of us what wrong is to them. They hate and without fail succeed. They destroy and without remorse they care less. They squander and without shame they show off.

They are all around. Some we love and they are our friends and brothers and sisters. We pray that they see the light we all see. But life is not easy and it never was, worse yet, it is harder when you hate, when you steal, when you stay down at every defeat. But then we let go of the life we have planned and have the life that is always and forever waiting for us.

I have a reason to believe that we will make it. When we adapt, we tend to adopt some newness. That is why I have a reason to believe that we are a society whose willingness to change will propel us to a future of ‘Septembers.’ A time when the sun on my face will reflect on the forehead of the other person and boy, ours will be a society of triumphs.

Now, notice the defeated friend and help them up. Notice the hungry fella and buy him lunch. Notice the lost single parent and give him and her hope. Notice the ill around you and set forth to undo it.

FIFA Dlamini.
