BE WARY OF INTERNET SCAMS

Font size: Decrease font Enlarge font

Sir,

There are numerous internet scams including the one where someone in the Congo or DRC has won a tender to drill for oil/diamonds or have already supplied whatever and are just awaiting payment. They con one into sending them money and they undertake to pay as soon as they are paid.

These even send documentation with rubber stamps of notary publics making the documents look authentic. To prove their point, they initially send you one document which is then followed by clearances authorising payment, among others.

The other scam is the one where they have inherited millions but need an amount to pay for the death duties for the release of their monetary share of the estate.
Do not under any circumstances fall for any of these scams. You will lose everything and will never be able to trace the people who have scammed you.

This reminded me of a scam we had in Swaziland a few years ago, where one was tricked into paying money to purchase a certain chemical, believing that those people had loads and loads of money that needed to be washed so that the money would be authentic. They would actually do the ‘washing of the money’ in front of one.

What many did not realise was that one was given real money so that one would ‘believe’ in what they were doing. Once these people got hold of your hard earned cash, they had numerous stories about why the chemical did not work.
I will, however, today be focusing on false profiles of either men/women who will send you the most beautiful messages and make you fall head over heels in love with them.

They will even phone you three times a day to tell you how much they love, cannot get you out of their minds and cannot wait to be with you.
They will read everything about you and will even speak of your family by name, for they have done their research well.
They will tell you they are bringing up their children alone, having been left high and dry by their spouses and will con you into believing they would be coming to visit you but at that instance, they do not have sufficient money to pay for either the ticket or airport tax so that they can come and live with you happily ever after!

Do not fall for such scams. These people prey on your vulnerability. They normally target older women/men who, in their quest to find the perfect companion, fall for their beautiful words.

They know exactly what to say to make one believe they are sincere. You would be totally out of your mind to beg, borrow and steal money believing that this person is genuine. People who are ‘perfect’ are only a product of one’s imagination. They do not exist.

These people are professionals at what they do that they can make you believe anything.
As numerous of my readers do not follow investigative programmes, I thought it imperative that I inform all those who follow my articles of this particular scam.

If anything sounds too good to be true, it is not true.
Stay alert and remember that any one of your choices can have so many different repercussions. Scammers can be Africans who sound like Europeans.
If he/she truly loves you, he/she will come over without you having to pay anything. (Comments: My FB page; inaldathegreat@gmail.com www.inalda.co.sz)
