UNIONS MUST NOT DEVIATE FROM LABOUR-RELATED ISSUES

Sir,

My observation in as far as issues relating to labour are concerned is that unions seem to have diverted and have have now joined the bandwagon of politics.

They always condemn every initiatives government is taking in its bid to make the lives of every citizen a better one. We, as workers, are surprised because this is not what we sent them to do. Some of us had no political affiliation or whatsoever, because we know that politics is a dirty game throughout the whole world. I would like to highlight that there are so many issues that these guys need to address for us rather than engaging in politics.

They must stop influencing workers to rebel against our mighty government. So many nationalities are staying in Swaziland because the country’s leaders are making sure that the country is peaceful.
As civil servants themselves, they should be seen helping our government root out corruption and making sure that there is productively in government departments, rather than being hijacked by a few individuals who want political systems which have not helped Africa as a whole.

We gave them the mandate to run our labour movements for us and now they want something more. The union leaders have formed a coalition to condemn whatever initiatives our government is embarking on to improve the livelihood of fellow citizens of this country.

They must know that as workers, we want peace and political stability, ‘asiwufuni umsindvo lapha eveni’.  They must get this message clearly, our brothers and sisters have fled their respective countries and many of them have unfortunately died and those who are lucky to be alive are staying  in African States that are divided and do not appreciate one another. Here in Swaziland ‘sibe Nkhosi’,  ‘asisibo bemuntfu’ please. Please do not try to push other agendas on us, Swaziland is an independent State.
