RACISM IS IGNORANCE

Sir,

It has become very difficult for anyone to deny that the world has become a more hostile, corrupt and violent place over the years. It’s as if we are spinning out of control.

Incidents of racism have also been increasing at an alarming rate, at a time when there are wars and rumours of war.
The Bible tells us that God made man in his own image. This means that the whole concept of race is flawed. There is only one human race. What does exist among humans are genetic variations which result in different skin colours, eye colours and hair, among others.

That is why there are ‘black ‘people who have blue eyes or who have blond hair and there are ‘white’ people who have brown eyes and have black hair. God wanted diversity! The notion that one ‘race’ is superior to another is partly a result of Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution, which led to some people believing that they were at a higher level of evolution than others.

They defend this view with the argument that most inventions and scientific discoveries came from Europe and Asia. However, the fact that most inventions and scientific discoveries came from Europe and Asia doesn’t mean that all people of European and Asian descent are inventors and scientists.

Not all people of European descent are astronauts but there are astronauts of African descent.
There are also inventors and scientists of African descent and there are criminals and beggars of European descent!
There is corruption in Europe and America and there is corruption in Africa and Asia!

Living in Africa with all the crime and corruption doesn’t mean that crime and corruption don’t happen elsewhere!
Of course there are differences among people which go more than skin deep.

These differences, however, are not intellectual or physical but are cultural. Your background will have an effect on your character. If your background is one of poverty and violence, this will reflect in your character.

 If your background is one of superstition and belief in the supernatural, then that will reflect in your character. If you have a true Christian background, then it will reflect in your character, no matter what colour skin you have or continent you are from.

Those who are pushing for violence and anarchy are being led by ignorance. Ignorance of the forces which influence mankind.
This ignorance is what led the Nazis to slaughter millions of people, and it is the same ignorance which is the cause of terrorist attacks on civilians all around the world.
