MINISTER OF TINKHUNDLA, I WILL FOLLOW YOUR PROMISE

Sir,

I used to write and say one of the critical ministries in our country is the Ministry of Tinkhundla Administration and Development.  I would say this simply because it’s the same ministry that gave birth to all the other ministries.

I
’m saying this because it is the ministry responsible for the system of governance and foundation (which to me are the chiefdoms).
Now it becomes even better since it is also responsible for reducing the high level of unemployment in rural areas. That is why it is very important that this ministry is led by relevant individuals.

Back to my topic, I really want to follow and monitor the minister’s promise without fail.
Sir, the minister told the whole country that the Finance minister increased his allocation for 2016, especially the Regional Development Fund (RDF), yes I agree. It is my wish as a young citizen to see even the people under my constituency, especially the youth, benefitting from that promise.

This ministry has done absolutely nothing convincing in as far as showing Swazis the beauty of being governed by the Tinkhundla system, which I believe is a critical mandate.
This ministry is very relaxed in Mbabane instead of going to the people in rural areas.

We are still waiting for the decentralisation. It is now a decade since they promised that.
Taking birth certificates and the like at the constituency offices is a step towards decentralisation.
If I may make an example, the Ministry of Tinkhundla Administration and Development is like the ruling African National Congress (ANC) party in South Africa.

They do not sleep but they are always on their toes trying to make South Africans happy.
This ministry should emulate the ANC. May I urge our government to look into this.
Let us wait and see if the RDF will reach the people.

Ronnie Dlamini
Gege.
