NO MONEY FOR CIVIL SERVANTS

Editor,

The joint negotiating team between government and civil servants over salary increments has taken a new direction, how?

There is a hide and seek game going on here and the meetings are on and off and in some days, they are suspended indefinitely!
What exactly is going on? Who is the robber here? Who is the hypocrite?

At a distance, one would see that there is no money for increments for the civil servants, since during the budget speech early this year, they were not catered for. Then what are these talks all about when there is no money? If there is no money, there is just no money!

So what is the fuss all about? It is not a laughing matter if you are broke! On the other hand, both the police services and His Majesty’s Correctional Service continue unabated to recruit yet there is no money to pay these new recruits. I ask again, what is happening? What were these negotiations for if there is no money to increase salaries for civil servants?

If I look on the other side I see greener and good looking pastures and it’s little wonder that legislators or politicians do not care.
They have benefits to enjoy and apart from that, if they wanted more money they could easily come up with new finance circulars to enrich themselves and no one can oppose them.

On another issue, the country has been commended by the Commonwealth head of the anti-corruption agencies in Africa for its strong political will in the fight against corruption.

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is doing a great job in rooting out the source of corruption and all its elements.
In the past, the taxpayers also complained that some rascals or evil people were looting their coffers but nothing was being done, instead the big shots continued to drain the economy illegally. What must the ACC do next?

They must not forget the E28 million jet deposit saga that even Parliament deliberated on but it was swept under the carpet for unknown reasons. What happened?
What else must the ACC investigate? I believe a lot could be investigated by the ACC.
