GOVERNMENT OPPRESSING THE PEOPLE

Editor,

What is currently happening in the country is very, very bad for the ordinary Swazi.

The loss of AGOA saw a number of jobs lost in the country but we are not seeing anything done to change the situation, instead it is getting worse.
The procedure by government or State institutions to hire contractors or people desperately in need of employment is affecting the man on the street or common Swazi citizens.

The Government of Swaziland is denying its citizens the opportunity of developing themselves and becoming wealthy and not living miserable lives, which is the currently the case for many families. People need full time employment where they can be assured of a salary every month end. Full time employment is where one is entitled to certain benefits, where you get pension.
You do not have to worry about what happens after you retire because your provident fund grows each year because of the interest it accumulates. What we are witnessing is that people hired by government, be it contractors or other do not get anything.

The same applies to those who are hired by municipals, be it individuals or contractors.
I have been asking myself why is it that the Government of Swaziland treats its people as slaves. Government and the municipals should explain to the people why they are oppressing them like that? In Swaziland, we do not vote for political parties and for that reason, we can safely say oppression is the order of the day.

There is no platform where you can take your grievances and expect to be assisted because there are no political parties. Instead, it is just the government which does as it likes and does not care about the people. This is sad.
