LISTEN TO THE COMMONERS

Font size: Decrease font Enlarge font

Sir,

In the article ‘Govt ignored 2022 advice’ published last week, I learnt that our government has played havoc with our lives as early as the 1990s.
Therefore, I felt it is proper for the black-minded man to articulate his feelings concerning our government.

Please note that my comments are not meant to blame anyone concerned but to highlight areas of interest that need everybody to address.
First and foremost, I want to state that I like the way Swaziland is governed. This refers to the system called monarchial democracy.

However, I do not like what most of the government officials are doing with our welfare. Before we go further, I should state that a government said to be for the people and by the people is mandated to work for the betterment of the nation at large.
What is happening is really disheartening because our government has a sweet tongue that lacks action when it comes to matters concerning our social welfare.

I say ‘social welfare’ because all other aspects of life, such as politics and economics, are linked to social welfare.
Swaziland is one of the smallest countries in Africa and I think if our government officials can be dedicated to their work, we can make a good example of a successful nation: a nation that is able to feed almost all of its citizens.

Legal

I continually refer to government because it is the central institution that has the legal rights to control the State.
Otherwise, it is every Swazi’s duty to sustain our nation.

The author of the article, Jan Sithole, made reference to very important communication areas, which I feel should not be taken for granted.
