MANZINI – The alleged Tanzanian drug mule’s number of cocaine sloops has risen to 61 from 42.
Had it not been for the quick action by the Manzini Drug Unit (MDU) on Tuesday morning the suspect, Chicho Manyanya Iddi (30) would have taken out the other drugs at the Zakhele Remand Centre.
Just yesterday morning as the police were monitoring him, 14 bullets like objects came out of him at around 7am and four came out after lunch while one was found at around 5pm.
Iddi was supposed to be sent to the Zakhele Remand Centre after Principal Magistrate David Khumalo remanded him to custody on Monday, but that did not happen.
The police before taking him to Zakhele rushed Iddi to the Mbabane Government Hospital for an X-ray, surprisingly the Mbabane X-ray revealed that there were foreign objects in his abdomen. The doctor’s forensic evidence saw the police going back to the Manzini Magistrate’s Court to apply for a liberation warrant for Iddi.
After their successful application they took him to the Manzini Regional Headquarters where they closely monitored until he relieved himself three times and 19 cocaine sloops were discovered.
Police Public Relations Officer Superintendent Vusi Masuku said the MDU officers were monitoring the suspect and they would release him to the remand centre once they satisfied themselves that he no longer had foreign objects in his body.
