MBABANE – The Believe Begin Become Youth Business Plan Competition is now a regular feature in the television documentary Business Scope.
Business Scope airs every Tuesday evening at 8.30 pm on Swazi TV. The programme will feature promising entrepreneurs who have gone through the business plan competition and started their own businesses.
The competition is run by TechnoServe, together with other partners.
Believe Begin Become Manager, Jean Mwenda said two episodes had already been broadcast and the last episode featured interviews on the requirements of applying for the competition as well as snippets of the recent Believe Begin Become regional road show that took place at Mahlanya.
"We are pleased with this arrangement whereby we will demonstrate to the young people the importance of venturing into business and changing their own lives," Mwenda said.
Encourage
She went on to encourage the youth to watch Business Scope, which will broadcast the competition’s activities on a weekly basis and a full 25-minute episode on Believe Begin Become once a month.
The Believe Begin Become business plan competition is an incentivised, practical training and business development programme that helps fledging entrepreneurs turn ideas into fundable and implementable business plans. Primarily funded by the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and Standard Bank as the local main sponsor, the competition awards the winning business plans with seed capital prizes. This year the prizes amount to E775 000.
Mwenda said TechnoServe continues to educate the youth on the business plan competition. On Saturday, in conjunction with Swazi Boy Entertainment, they will be conducting the last of four regional road shows at Buhleni.
