Democratic Front calls for unity

MANZINI – The Swaziland United Democratic Front (SUDF) has noted some cracks in its formation caused by lack of unity.

As a result, the leadership of the umbrella body for all Civil Society Organisations in the country has called for unity amongst its leadership and membership.

Addressing the over 1 000 protestors at the Jubilee Park after yesterday’s protest march, SUDF Chairman Barnes Dlamini said even though he was very grateful to the membership for participating, it was also imperative for him to promote unity of the Civil Society Organisations.

“I urge the leadership of the organisations to fight for unity because division will never get us anywhere,” he said.
Dlamini said it was his duty to be wary of anything that could cause division and act swiftly to send a warning.
He stressed that they could only be able to challenge national decisions if they were united.
He noted that there was a great need for the groups to nurse the current situation, and further effect discipline on the security forces.

On this point, Dlamini was making particular reference to constant calls to hold brief meetings with the police and Correctional Services top brass during the march.
He commended the members of the organisations for their commitment by shelving their other commitments to attend yesterday’s march.
