MBABANE – In an unprecedented move, the infamous Manzini Wanderers Impi  have vowed to keep ‘guard’ of the Somhlolo Stadium the night ahead of the Swazi Bank Cup final clash with Mbabane Highlanders, the Times Sports desk gathered yesterday.

The infamous impi, which defied all odds recently when they travelled to Siteki to pick up coach, Tiger Thompson who had resigned from the club with the intentions of signing for XI Men In Flight where he had been offered a contract, have vowed to have a ‘night vigil’ next to Somhlolo and keep away all “unwanted persons” who are believed to have access to the stadium.

One of the members who spoke to the Times Sports Desk yesterday on condition of anonymity, vowed that nothing will stop them keeping guard of the stadium.
“This is a national property and there is nothing wrong with keeping guard because we won’t be inside the stadium, we will just stay outside. We want to see the people who then get access to the stadium at night ahead of games,” one of the Impi ring-leaders said.

In the euphoria of the emphatic 2-0 victory over Royal Leopards’ semi-finals, some of the Wanderers supporters did indicate they will keep guard at the stadium for the whole week.

However, Chairman of the Wanderers’ supporters, Dovololo Gamedze dismissed the threats by the members of the infamous Impi and quickly said this was not the official position of the club.

“We do not encourage such actions and no one will go there because as chairman of the supporters I would know of such. No one will keep guard of Somhlolo. The teams will just go there and play on Sunday and the better prepared team will win,” he said.
