It is the season for buganu!

EBUHLENI—It was another great day for Swazi culture as the nation in its thousands gathered in celebration of the annual buganu celebration.

What made the day even more special was the presence of the Basotho Queen Masenate Seiso who was dressed in Swazi traditional attire.

The queen who addressed the gathering after the Lutsango had finished dancing said had she known well in advance she would have brought women from her country. Addressing the gathering in her mother toungue the queen said it was her first time in Swaziland but said she already felt at home.

She promised to bring a large number of Basotho women in future so they too can share the Swazi culture.

From as early as 10am people had already filled the arena and the Lutsango came in large numbers for their special day.

The heat in the beginning though was unbearable, but the Lutsango had to endure being under the scorching heat as the king only arrived at 5pm.

As usual the armed forces looked spectacular in their matching lihiya and each tried to outclass the other in their dancing skills.

Also on exhibition were various projects that were earmarked by Lutsango which included the Swazi made vaseline, honey and items made from the marula fruits called the Swazi Secrets.

Members of the public were kept guessing at a special guest who sat right next to the king throughout the whole event.

Foreign Affairs Minister Lutfo Dlamini said the king’s guest was a top businessman from Dubai named Abdulla Alqaisieah. He and the king were from time to time enganged in conversation and almost every one wonder who the man was.

Also present at the ceremony was Egypt Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister, Mona Omar. Emakhosikati from KwaNdebele and many tourists.

Cabinet ministers included Education and Training Minister Wilson Ntshangase, Home Affairs’ Mgwagwa Gamedze, Health minister Benedict Xaba, Public Service minister Mtiti Fakudze and Public Works and Transport minister Ntuthuko Dlamini.

Former Prime Minister Absalom Themba Dlamini now Tibiyo MD was also present and was sat next to Prince Logcogco.

The dancing was expected to continue inside the royal kraal well into the early hours of today.
