MANZINI – A Malkerns man could not believe it yesterday when rangers took him to the police after he was found with a dead four metre python.

The man from Malkerns is said to have been walking with another in one of the farm fields when they stumbled upon the snake and shot it.

The snake is said to have been shot by a passerby who did not take it until the suspected man arrived and took it home.

It is still not clear what he intended to do with it.

Rangers from one of the game parks not very far from Malkerns are said to have received a tip off that a man was seen carrying a huge snake.

They are said to have finally found him at his home and they later called the police.

Dead

He is said to have told the police that he found it already dead after it had been shot by an unknown person.

The Malkerns police are said to have opened a case and were currently investigating it.

The police are said have also received information that most of the residents next to the place where the snake was found have been losing chickens recently.

Implicated

They were told that the snake was killed by two men as it was approaching one homestead and the suspected man is also implicated.

Police Public Relations Officer Superintendent Vusi Masuku confirmed the case and said Malkerns police had not arrested anyone in the matter.
