MBABANE - Swazi Gospel Singers have released an album in commemoration of their 30 years in gospel music.

The album entitled ‘Mbonge’ is already receiving airplay in the national radio and at the Voice of the Church (VOC). "It is not by human wisdom that the group has been sustained over the 30 year time horizon," stated Mathokoza Mthethwa, one of the founding members. He also said they had a reason to celebrate and give thanks to the Lord for graciously leading them over this long journey in their quest to tell the world about redemption.

Combination

"The album is a special piece of work comprising 15 great songs which are a combination of the group’s old compositions as well as new ones. The group has found it prudent to re-package some of the ‘favourites’ to augment their palatability to the 21st Century listeners," he said, adding: "While listening and reminiscing about the group’s work of the past, one soon enters virgin ground dominated by new composition that will soothe his/ her soul with a powerful message of the Gospel."

"We believe that our Lord has been our ultimate source of inspiration during the execution of the project. He has been a propellant that has kept us focused and on course towards the accomplishment of this task in spite of formidable hurdles we encountered along the way," Mthethwa said, also mentioning that they thanked the Lord that ultimately, every challenge encountered was taken as an opportunity for constructive engagement. "Today we have a product we can shout about," he said.

He then paid his gratitude to Sizwe Zakho whom he said readily offered his recording studio for the recording of our album. "Sizwe Zakho is a veteran music producer, who over the years, has become a household name in the gospel music scene. ‘Mbonge’ is another Sizwe Zakho Production project.
