MHLANGENI - A man killed his wife by kicking her on the head then planted weevil tablets in her armpits to fake a suicide scene.

The man, Kuseni Hlophe (22), was arrested by Bhunya police and charged with the murder of his wife.

The female, identified as Dumsile Magongo of Mhlangeni area, had an argument with her husband that resulted in the fight.

The dead woman is a daughter to a senior police officer in the Shiselweni region, who is a sub-inspector.

Hlophe was wearing safety shoes when the fight broke out, and they came in handy as he kicked the daylights out of his wife.

Sources claimed he kicked his wife all over the body. The bone of contention is not known though, but sources claimed the couple had fought previously numerous times.

"We are not clear what led to them fighting. We never thought Hlophe could harm her so badly, maybe it explains why he tried to stay away from jail by telling lies," said the source.

But it was the kick to the head that allegedly killed the wife. The husband, sources added, thought of an idea to conceal the murder immediately he was convinced that he had killed his lover.

He reported to the family that he found his lover dead, in an attempt to keep himself away from the wrath of the law.

It has been gathered that the fact that the father of the deceased is a police officer helped the family not to be easily convinced about the alleged suicide.

Police Public Relations Officer Vusi Masuku confirmed the incident.
