MBABANE – Shisizwe ‘Shisa’ Kunene, one of the E6.2 million suspects who are wanted by police, was once an employee of Sun International.

It has since been gathered that Kunene had been employed by the hotel as a croupier and was working under the Casino department.

Kunene, it was gathered, disappeared a few months before the armed robbery was staged at the Pigg’s Peak Police Station. He never told anyone he was leaving.

One of the employees, who preferred not to reveal his identity, said Kunene looked honest such that no one would think he would be in the police most wanted list.

"When we saw the newspapers, we were shocked because we knew him as an innocent person. I still do not believe that he is among the suspects," he said.

"Everyone had the copy of the paper as we all did not believe that what the papers were saying might be true. To be honest with you, he was honest and you would not associate him with theft," said the source.

Sun International Head of Marketing Department Bene-dict Bennett only confirmed that Kunene was employed at the Casino. "It is a pity that he normally worked on the night shift, so it is very difficult to know much about him, but what I can only confirm is that he is known to the company," he said. Police have since called upon anyone who might know the whereabouts of Kunene to contact the police as soon as possible.

Police Assistant Public Relations Officer Inspector Steven Dlamini warned members of the public not to attempt to apprehend the suspects as they are feared to be armed. Also on the police wanted list for the same offence is Senzo Motsa of Ngwane Park in Manzini and Bongani ‘Mngomane’ Mkhw-eli of Mbhuleni.
