MBABANE – Five games into the MTN Premier League, the Premier League of Swaziland (PLS) is already having three protests to deal with, all based on improper registration of players by the elite league teams.

The latest team to protest over an allegedly improperly registered player is Malanti Chiefs who confirmed their case on Tuesday.

"We’ll be hearing a case between Malanti Chiefs and Umbelebele Cosmos following a protest by the former over a double registered player," confirmed PLS Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Zakhele Dlamini yesterday.

Dlamini said Malanti have already confirmed the protest, saying this was now saying to the backlog of cases they have had since the start of the league.

"As you may know, we still have pending cases between Highlanders and Swallows which will continue next Tuesday, Leopards and Buffaloes which is scheduled for tomorrow (today) and now the Umbelebele/Malanti case," he said.

He, however, said they were working tirelessly to put the cases to rest and have since scheduled every Tuesdays and Thursdays for all cases before them and those that will follow. The player Malanti Chiefs protested about is Umbelebele’s striker, Mphumzeni Dlamini who featured in the dull stalemate over the weekend.

"We did protest but its unfortunate that the PLS CEO didn’t give you all the details of the protest because right now I’ve forgotten the name of the player in question," said Malanti’s manager, Vusi ‘Shoes’ Dlamini.

Umbelebele’s spokesman, Ray Msibi, on the other hand also confirmed that they have a protest against them by Malanti.
