MBABANE – Mbabane Swallows have suffered a major blow before the season kicks off as their free-scoring Cameroonian striker, Etienneh Massoye tendered his resignation yesterday.

Massoye submitted his resignation letter yesterday to the secretary Sibusiso Manana where he also requested to be given his clearance. As exclusively reported by this newspaper on Wednesday, the Cameroonian striker is set to join newly promoted Manzini Sundowns who are led by South Africa born mentor Kenny Ndlazi.

A source close to the matter said the player has no contract with Swallows and he has also demanded his clearance. Massoye has scored 37 goals for the Birds in two seasons. "He submitted his resignation to Swallows today and also wants his clearance as he has no contract with them. Sundowns are likely to register him some time next week," said the source.

resignation and also wants to be given his clearance. He said for now he can only say he has been approached by Manzini Sundowns formally. "The secretary is the right person to comment for Swallows," he said.

Manzini Sundowns PRO Muzi Matsenjwa said they had not received a copy of the letter as they were still to attend their meeting last night. Sundowns has lined up a number of highly profiled players who are set to join them this season. It would be their biggest catch in local circles if they do eventual sign the goal-scoring striker. Swallows secretary Sibusiso Manana denied receiving the letter. He said what he knows is that Massoye is still their player and they are looking at having him in the club when the season resume.

Meanwhile, arch-rivals, Mbabane Highlanders are also reportedly trying to lure the want-away Cameroonian striker to their camp as well.
