EZULWINI – Mbabane Highlanders are set to land another top Zimbabwean goalkeeper in Ndodana Sibanda who was released by Bulawayo Highlanders early this month to open space for their development side’s goalkeeper Bheki Ndlovu.

The goalkeeper who is in his late 20s arrived on Monday along with three other internationals being defender Toni-Toni, midfielder Papay from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and a striker Kiki from Congo Brazzaville.

However, of these players, Papay and the goalkeeper looked promising such that on just one day, some Highlanders officials were overheard singing praises to them especially the former as he showed such composure on the ball and made very good passes, linking well with the likes of Mbaya Katala, Muzi ‘Mzoro’ Dlamini and Khayelihle ‘Karas’ Dlamini.

However, in the end it will be the two coaches Happy Simfukwe and his assistant Sipho Dube who will decide who to sign and who to leave out as there were over 10 other trialists when including the local ones who are still being assessed further.

The club’s Board of Directors’ Secretary Musa Masuku said they were happy to have the players at training but made it clear they would have to bring something special to be signed as they would not want average players yet they were internationals.

Quizzed on the Malawian striker Joel Chipofya, he said they expected him on Monday but he missed his flight.

"I don’t understand what’s happening with this player but I think he was stuck in South Africa with one of the teams there which is why we may have to try Steve and Fash," he said.

The team is currently in a bid to land former South Africa’s Orlando Pirates number 10 Steve Lekoelea and Mfanfikile ‘Fash’ Ndzimandze who has indicated he wants to return to the club he quit at the start of last season.
