HEREFORDS - A teacher has been reported to the Regional Education Office after being caught kissing a pupil.

This happened at Herefords High School early this month.

The teacher, who cannot be named pending conclusion of investigations, was allegedly caught kissing a Form III pupil inside a classroom. Principal of the school Sipho Madonsela said he has since handed over the matter to the REO.

After the issue was reported to him, he made his own investigations and the issue was then reported to the office of the REO as per the procedure.

"I believe the REO’s office is doing something in this matter as the case was formally reported to it," he said

Information gathered is that the teacher was caught by other pupils and teachers and they in turn reported the matter to the administration.

Madonsela further said that as a school, they condemned teacher – pupil relationships and they made sure that every reported case was given the urgency it deserved.

"The teacher is still at school, but his matter is now being handled at another level," he said.

Some of the interviewed pupils alleged that the teacher and the pupil were always seen together after school hours and on weekends.

They also disclosed that the implicated teacher spends most of his time with female pupils.

Pupil is pregnant - principal

HEREFORDS -The pupil who was caught kissing a teacher at Herefords High School has been discovered to be pregnant.

This was confirmed by the principal of the school Sipho Madonsela.

"Her father recently came to inform me that she was pregnant, but he did not state who impregnated her. I am still to enquire further from the parents as to who is really responsible," he said.

He also disclosed that the pupil will no longer be allowed to sit for her Junior Certificate exams in the same school following her pregnancy. Madonsela said the only option was for the pupil to be transferred to write elsewhere.

I fail to understand why some teachers fail to be responsible ngoba nyalo this teacher may lose his job just because of lust. If he loved lomntfwana what makes him not to wait till the child has completed school if he loves her. Niyenyanyisana mani nani. Nona likusasa lebantfwana ngoba nini seniyasebenta.

I dont understand why pregnant pupils are not allowed to write exams in their own schools where they paid examination fees and school fees. To me this is double punishment because the child is expelled from school now to refuse her examination in the school is crazy. Our system has a tendency of imposing and exercising power in a negative way over its people. She is being TOLD what to do about her own right to examination. The environment the child rights in has bearing to her success in the examination. She should be the one to decide she cannot do it in the school not to be imposed on her. I understand expelling her from school (even though if I had the power I still would not allow it) but I dont understand refusing her examination of this kind.
