PIGG’S PEAK – A 30 year old man of Hhehhele was arrested for allegedly hacking two men he suspected were in a relationship with his wife.
The incident is said to have happened at Hhelehhele, near Mganda Mountain.
Khetsa Shongwe faces two assault charges that he allegedly committed last year.
Shongwe is said to have hacked Ngungu Dlamini on the leg and later proceeded to assault Musa Dlamini with stones, injuring him on the leg as well.
He alleged that Ngungu was having an affair with his wife while Musa allowed the two to spend a night at his place.
“During the attack, he accused me of allowing Ngungu to spend a night in my compound with his wife. This came as a surprise to me because I have never seen the two together,” said Musa.
So serious were Musa’s injuries that he uses a walking stick to support himself.
It all started after Shongwe got a tip-off from an undisclosed resident that his wife was allegedly in a relationship with Ngungu. Ngungu, who is also a relative to Musa, is said to have spent a night at the latter’s homestead on the day of the attack.
When relating his testimony before court, Musa said in September last year, Shongwe went to his homestead armed with a bush knife. He was looking for Ngungu.
“While inside the house, I heard Ngungu screaming for help outside. When I responded to his screams, I saw the accused person chasing after him (Ngungu) with a bush knife. At that point, Ngungu had been hacked on his leg and was bleeding profusely. I then rushed to the scene and separated the two. However, Shongwe started to attack me. He accused me of protecting Ngungu,” narrated Musa who is the second complainant in the matter.
He said he then ordered his children, who were also present at the scene, to bring him a spear because Shongwe was allegedly very aggressive.
“He then stripped naked and said he was ready to fight. He threw stones at us but ran away when the spear was brought to me,” continued Musa.
The situation is said to have been saved by the arrival of one Madunguzela Dlamini, who is an uncle to Shongwe.
The following day, Shongwe is said to have launched another attack. However, this time around he assaulted Musa with stones and injured him on the legs. The incident is said to have happened around 5am while Musa had gone to the fields.
Musa was rushed to the Pigg’s Peak government hospital where he was admitted for one month two weeks.
The matter will be back in court on April 1, 2010.
