MBABANE – A Worship Centre cameraman was dismissed from employment after allegedly impregnating a female congregant within the church.

Julius Mabaso had allegedly been hired by Spirit and Truth Productions, a company which produces material for the Worship Centre until he was dismissed for allegedly having an affair and ultimately impregnating a girl within the church. He had allegedly been hired in July 2006, earning a salary of E1 561 per month until he was dismissed on April 3, 2009. This publication has gathered that Mabaso is also a member of the Worship Centre.

He has since run to the Industrial Court seeking an order to direct the company to pay him notice pay, additional notice pay and severance pay. He also seeks an order to direct the company to pay him leave pay as well as maximum compensation for unfair dismissal.

He alleged in his court papers that he was neither called before a disciplinary hearing nor was he charged for any misconduct that warranted a dismissal from work. He is represented by Lindiwe Ngcamphalala from Khumalo Ngcamphalala Attorneys.

Represented

Spirit and Truth Productions is represented by Zweli Jele from Robinson Bertram Attorneys and the matter was before Industrial Court President Sifiso Nsibande.
The matter is still pending at the Industrial Court as the company intends to oppose it. Ngcamphalala argued that the Industrial Relations Act had not been adhered to when Mabaso was dismissed from employment.

He alleged that after his dismissal, he reported the matter to the Conciliation Mediation and Arbitration Commission (CMAC). He further alleged that the dispute remained unresolved after the commission failed to resolve the differences. The certificate of unresolved dispute issued by CMAC reflected that the Worship Centre maintained that Mabaso had been fairly dismissed because he had committed a serious offence. Spirit and Truth Productions is part of the Worship Centre Church headed by Pastor Justice Dlamini.
