Times Of Swaziland: REGISTRATION DEADLINE SHIFTED REGISTRATION DEADLINE SHIFTED ================================================================================ BY ASHMOND NZIMA on 28/09/2013 07:06:00 MBABANE – Teams have now up until October 11 to register their targeted players. Yesterday was supposed to mark the close of the First Window Registration period but National Football Association of Swaziland (NFAS) CEO Frederick Mngomezulu announced the revised date at a press briefing at Sigwaca House yesterday. The changes, he disclosed, were caused by the ongoing turmoil at the Manzini Regional Football Association (MRFA) office, where the entire executive committee was sacked by the teams at a General Assembly last Sunday. “Following the ongoing crisis at Manzini FA, we had to give teams more time to register players. The transfers of players affect all leagues, so we have to extend the registration deadline across the board,” he said. Meanwhile there is hope for the embattled MRFA as the country’s football mother body has summoned all the teams in the region to an extra-ordinary meeting to be held at Princess Pholile Hall in Malkerns on Tuesday, starting at 6pm. A normalisation committee will be announced on the day while the NFAS probes the saga further. “While we seek to address the impasse at Manzini FA, we’ll keep the fire burning by putting in place the interim structure. We’d also look into the necessary documentation to see if the right channels were followed before the vote of no confidence was passed,” he said. The unrest at Manzini FA was partly caused by the loss of a sponsorship from Insika Project worth over E2 million early this month. Mngomezulu said the sponsorship challenges would not stop the start of the leagues scheduled for early next month.
