Times Of Swaziland: Tsabalaka applies for Swazi citizenship Tsabalaka applies for Swazi citizenship ================================================================================ BY DUMISANI NTIWANE on 20/05/2013 01:04:00 MBABANE – Manzini Sundowns Malawian-born defender Elias Tsabalaka will soon become a Swazi citizen. The dreadlocked utility defender whose contract with the Kappa Boys runs out at the end of the month has instructed his manager TZD Sports Management Director Zakhele Dlamini to make the application for a Swazi citizenship. The player confirmed yesterday, but referred further comments of the matter to his manager. “It is something we have discussed but I would prefer that you talk to my manager as he is the one handling the issue on my behalf,” said the player. Dlamini said they would possibly file the application with the Citizenship Board this week as the player has lived enough time to be eligible to apply. “He has been here close to 10 years and we were delayed by the absence of the Board, now that it has been announced we will file our application this week,” he said. The player, if granted the citizenship, could follow in the footsteps of Stanford Ncube who also acquired a Swazi citizenship three years ago. The player who was once picked by former Malawi senior national team coach Kinah Phiri arrived in the country as trainee for Mbabane Swallows alongside Thamsanqa Vundla. The players failed to win a contract with the red and white ensemble and ended up signing for Manzini Wanderers. Tsabalaka was soon to become the ‘Weslians’ best signing where he spent six seasons with the club before joining neighbours Manzini Sundowns in July last year. Meanwhile, his contract with the club expires at the end of the month and his manager has said that he was available for negotiations to any club that might be interested in his services.
