MBABANE – Cameroonian anchorman, Jocial Tchakunda lit up Mbabane Swallows
training yesterday after arriving in the country late on Tuesday afternoon.
His arrival was met with loud cheers from his Swallows teammates and it was
evident the industrious midfielder had been missed.
He last appeared for Swallows towards the later stages of the MTN Premier League
first round. He is likely to get the nod ahead of his team’s top-of-the-table
clash against Malanti Chiefs, which is scheduled for the Somhlolo National
Stadium on Sunday. The player also expressed delight at his return to the team.
He was interviewed immediately after his first training session with the rest of
his teammates at the Prince of Wales Sports Ground yesterday.
"I am back home. I am here to do a job for Mbabane Swallows and looking forward
to it. It is good that the team is doing well and I hope to also contribute
positively," he said briefly. Swallows Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Sibusiso
Manana, said depending on the team’s technical bench headed by Nyanga
‘Crooks’ Hlophe and his assistant Siyabonga Bhembe, the player could feature
against Malanti.
"He has always been our player and as a team we were fully aware that he would
return once he had sorted out his personal matters. We welcome him back. He is a
professional player and we are positive that while he was away, he was also
training on his own to keep fit. Depending on the coaches, he will definitely be
available for selection," he said.
Manana then implored his team’s followers to come in numbers for the game,
which he said they were desperate to win at all costs.
"Our supporters always have a special role to play. Our preparations as a team
are progressing well and we are positive that by Sunday, we would be ready for
the fight. The players are doing their part and we expect our supporters to do
likewise on match day," he said.
