MBABANE – The battle lines for the inaugural Taste of Africa Women’s Boxing
Tournament have been drawn.
The four women who conquered their regions are set to exchange leather on July
20 during the Embiveni Biggest Braai in chase of the E10 000 ‘carrot’. The
most entertaining fighter will pocket E5 000, as the showpiece is sponsored to
the tune of E15 000. Embiveni Biggest Braai will be at the Mavuso Sports Centre,
on Saturday. With four days to go, the Eswatini Boxing Association (EBA)
conducted a draw of the female boxers, over the past weekend.
Blows
Lubombo was set up against the Shiselweni region. This means that Phindile
Mahlalela from Lomahasha Inkhundla will exchange blows with Tema Tfwala from
Somntongo, aiming to book a spot in the finals. Thandekile Qwabe from Hhohho
will  face off against Manzini’s Thulile Dlamini. This bout might see sparks
fly. The duo appeared more knowledgeable and capable during the regional
eliminations. Each of these women is receiving coaching support from the EBA, as
they prepare for the big day. They are expected to enter the ring in traditional
regalia to highlight the beauty of local culture in sports. There is also an
exhibition bout on the day, which has become the talk of the town. It features
Comedian S’lwane and blogger ‘Stufuza we Country.’ The popular pair will
fight for a winner-takes-all prize of E5 000.
