Times Of Swaziland: ZESCO’S LINDO AIMS GOOD FOR LOCAL PLAYERS ZESCO’S LINDO AIMS GOOD FOR LOCAL PLAYERS ================================================================================ Machawe Fakudze on 18/03/2023 09:35:00 MBABANE – National team Sihlangu Skipper Lindokuhle ‘Lindo’ Mkhonta wants to leave a legacy in Zambia. The former Young Buffaloes captain made a switch to Zambian top side ZESCO United early this year and made an immediate impact as on his debut he had an assist against Green Buffaloes, a game they won 3-0. The former Malanti Chiefs right back never took his foot off the pedal since then as he is now a regular in the star-studded Zega Mambo, as ZESCO are affectionately known in football circles. The full-back, who is currently with the national team in preparation of the back-to-back TOTALEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Qualifiers against Cape Verde in the weekend of March 24-28, this year, was quoted on national radio Eswatini Broadcasting and Information Services (EBIS 1) yesterday saying he wanted to create opportunities for local players in Zambia. Best Lindo said by the time his stay in Zambia was over, he wanted more Eswatini players playing in the copper mining country by performing to the best of his abilities, so that clubs would notice and inquire about the country’s talent. “I want to assure emaSwati back home that I will work hard and represent them well here. When I arrived I found that the league is a bit stronger than ours,” he said. He, however, highlighted that the difference was not that much huge and the reason he was saying that was because it was easy for him to quickly adapt. Meanwhile, the Sihlangu skipper will not be part of the squad to battle with Islanders in the first leg away as he got red carded in the game against Burkina Faso. Eswatini have a point to show in the two games played so far in the qualifiers as they opened the campaign with a 2-2 draw against Togo and lost 1-3 to Burkina Faso.
