’LANDERS OWE  E42 000, FACE  PITCH EVICTION

MBABANE – Pitch invasion is a charge they face after last Sunday’s mayhem at
Mavuso Sports Centre and they can brace themselves for a pitch eviction letter.
This is what impeccable sources have revealed about the black and white
ensemble, Mbabane Highlanders, who have been served with a letter of demand for
allegedly owing Royal Swazi Spa, the owner of the sports ground they use as
their training base. Royal Swazi Spa, through their attorney Mayibongwe Mntungwa
from Dynasty Inc. Attorneys has sent a letter of demand to Inkunz’emnyama for
money due on November 1, 2022. Mthungwa confirmed that a letter of demand was
sent to the Dumsani ‘DU’ Makhanya-coached side for allegedly owing the
training ground facility rent. “We were instructed by Royal Swazi Spa as
Highlanders owe them rent for the past 14 months and we served them on November
1, 2022,” Mntungwa said.
The attorney said the team was expected to pay Royal Swazi Spa E3 000 per month
and the total money due was E42 000. A source close to the 2021/22 MTN Premier
League runners-up, said they faced being evicted from their training base due to
the said non-payment of rent to use the facility. “Mbabane Highlanders are
being evicted at their training ground, which is at Casino Sports Ground, due to
non-payment of rent as they are now in the red with E42 000,” one impeccable
source said.
Meanwhile, the ‘Black Bull’s Manager Simiso ‘Space’ Jele, said nothing
had reached his office concerning that matter. “As we speak we are from
training, I don’t know anything about what you are asking. What I know is that
if you owe a person for a month, he or she will kick you out,” Jele said. The
troubles would not end here for Highlanders as last night they faced the
Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Disciplinary Committee (DC), as their
supporters found themselves attacking a referee after their match against
Manzini Sea Birds at Mavuso Sports Centre. The referee, Mbongeni Shongwe sensed
the danger timely and wasted no time taking to his heels, showing the rowdy
crowd racing after him a clean pair of heels to seek protection from the police.
It was all sparked by the referee awarding a goal that appeared to have been
scored via a hand as opposed to the head. The player who scored the winner,
Sandumuzi Zwane, as the match finished 2-1 in Highlanders disadvantage, also
reportedly admitted to it being a hand goal. If Highlanders are found guilty in
all counts they face, they could be fined around E200 000.
Management
No immediate comment could be obtained from Highlanders’ Managing Director
(MD) Chief Ally Kgomongwe, but he had earlier in the week disclosed that a lot
was not going well in the team when it came to the management at the
helm.Highlanders will tomorrow convene a mass meeting sanctioned by the MD
through the National Supporters Committee (NSC) Chairman Mfanuzile Dlamini. A
major shakeup in management was expected among other things likely to happen in
the meeting scheduled for 11am at CODEC in Ezulwini. Meanwhile, Highlanders will
not be in action in this weekend’s MTN Premier League as their fixture with
Seven Dreams was postponed indefinitely for security and safety reasons as the
King Sobhuza II Memorial Stadium was currently having an erection of temporary
stands.
