MBABANE – A new dawn.
A new era seems to be about to dawn for Hhohho Regional Football Association
(HRFA) affiliates. This will come as a result of the decision of the new HRFA
executive led by Chairman Comfort Shongwe, who has said they wanted to transform
football into a business entity in the region. HRFA has over 300 affiliates who
could benefit if this sees the light of day. “We are working on every club
having a constitution so to avoid incidents of disputes over teams’ ownership.
We want to transform football into an industry where the teams will register
with the Registrar of Companies. So, we’ll request from Eswatini Football
Association (EFA) to give us those lessons on football and club management,”
Shongwe said.
The chairman believed that teams needed to be fully established so they could
also attract sponsors as opposed to only benefitting through tournament
sponsorships.
Presentation
Shongwe was speaking on Wednesday at Sigwaca House during the prize presentation
of the Instacash Hhohho Football Association (FA) Cup for Mbabane League. The
chairman also encouraged teams to grab the job the opportunity availed to them
by Instacash to continue generating revenue for their teams. EFA Chief Executive
Officer (CEO) Frederick Mngomezulu said the entity did have programmes that
could cover a broad range of team officials from directors to team doctors.
Meanwhile, Instacash Commercial Manager Bongani Dube said they were already one
step ahead of HRFA in the business aspect of football at regional level, as they
had granted teams agents accounts. Dube said the money in these accounts solely
belonged to teams and any profits made were for them. He also encouraged teams
to employ permanent staff for income generating purposes of their teams through
the service of the new mobile money service provider.
