Highlanders Managing Director (MD) Chief Ally Kgomongwe unveiled the players at the Club House in Ezulwini yesterday. “We are grateful today to announce these players. After they took our players we couldn’t fold our arms,” Kgomongwe said. He said he was hopeful that the players would help the team achieve their desired goals of conquering Africa. “With these players we are going to compete in CAF, whether people like it or not,” he boldly declared. The other players who were unveiled included former Moneni Pirates midfielder Mpendulo Tfomo, former Vovovo strong defender Aristote Tamuzi and Lesotho international Tshwarelo Bereng. Lekata who was instrumental in steering Highlanders to the 2019 Charity Cup is expected to step into the big shoes of marksman and former captain Sabelo ‘Sikhali’ Ndzinisa, who joined Green Mamba recently. However, Lekata said he was not returning to the team to replace anyone. The black and white capital city team recently lost their top striker, the 2021/22 MTN Premier League player of the season, in Ndzinisa to Green Mamba. Inkunzi emnyama who finished second in last season’s MTN Premier League will be playing in the 2022/23 TOTALEnergies CAF Confederation Cup and they will face DStv Premiership side Royal AM in the preliminary stages next month.
