Times Of Swaziland: MAMELODI SUNDOWNS FOR ESWATINI MAMELODI SUNDOWNS FOR ESWATINI ================================================================================ Machawe Fakudze on 18/07/2022 06:18:00 MBABANE – They mean business. That is Mbabane Highlanders who are currently in South Africa for practice matches with DStv Premiership Champions Mamelodi Sundowns. Inkunzi emnyama left the country on Saturday for pre-season training with three South African sides in Mamelodi Sundowns, Supersport United and Marumo Gallants. The black and white capital giants were walloped 5-0 in both the practice matches they played with The Sky is the Limit, as Sundowns is fondly known. The games were played at Royal Marang Stadium yesterday. Mbabane Highlanders Managing Director (MD) Chief Ally Kgomongwe said he organised the games against the South African teams to create a good relationship with them. Proposal “I was talking to the Sundowns people about an international friendly to be played in Eswatini soon and they were willing. What is left now for me is to draft a proposal letter to the Eswatini Football Association to request that we host them here,” Kgomongwe said. He said they wanted to learn from them as they would be competing in the 2022/23 TOTALEnergies CAF Confederation Cup later this year. “This whole idea is centred around football business, as we will be exchanging programmes and players once everything is done,” the South African politician said. Meanwhile, the league runners-up Public Relations Officer (PRO), Mandla Madonsela confirmed that the MD organised the games and they played the two practice matches against Mamelodi Sundowns. “We lost the two matches as we were trying different combinations since we had players that were trying their luck with us here; we gave them 10 minutes and the coach will give an update on those who impressed him,” Madonsela said. He said the practice matches were good in their preparations ahead of their busy season. “We will be playing Supersport or Marumo Gallants, but I’m not sure which one we will play tomorrow, but I think its Supersport then on Tuesday Gallants,” he said. He further said that the only missing players from the ‘Bull’s kraal were the four with the national team. These are striker Sabelo ‘Sikhali’ Ndzinisa, midfielder Philani Mkhonta, defender Peter Dlamini and goalkeeper Khanyakwezwe Shabalala.
