Times Of Swaziland: OVER 300 FOR TAEKWONDO, AEROBICS OVER 300 FOR TAEKWONDO, AEROBICS ================================================================================ Ntokozo Magongo on 28/06/2022 07:25:00 MBABANE – The Next Generation Swazi Tigers Taekwondo Championship and Aerobics Teams Challenge is set to thrill. The two-day event will start on Friday through to Saturday at Bosco Youth Centre, where over 300 athletes under taekwondo and aerobics are set to take part. The international athletes are coming from countries including Malawi, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Lesotho, Eswatini and South Africa, which are countries in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Region. The challenge is hosted by Next Generation Academy with Swazi Tigers Taekwondo Club with assistance from The Fitness Zone. Next Generation Academy Coach and Eswatini Taekwondo Federation (ETF) Secretary Sizwe ‘Mshengu’ Mabuza said this was the week when they would welcome a large contingent from about six Southern Africa countries. “Its taekwondo championship combined with an aerobics competition - the first of many of its kind, to be organised in Eswatini. All divisions from pre cadets to seniors as well as both poomsae and kyorugi for taekwondo are going to take place. The aerobathon is a team challenge with eliminations on Friday July 1 and finals on Saturday July 2 during the lunch hour break,” he said. The taekwondo activities will take place on Saturday, starting at 8am. Mshengu said Lesotho was bringing the biggest squad as about 100 artists from that country had been registered. He said registration was still open and Mozambique had registered over 30 artists by yesterday. The theme of the challenge is, ‘Never done before! Never seen before! Taekwondo meets aerobics.’ He added that majority of the aerobics athletes were coming from South Africa and the host country (Eswatini). He said they would host the elimination’s on Friday, starting at 6pm to 9pm and the finals would be on the following day from 1pm to 2pm. Spectators will be charged E50 entry fee.
