Times Of Swaziland: DODO FAVOURITE FOR ‘WESLIANS’ JOB DODO FAVOURITE FOR ‘WESLIANS’ JOB ================================================================================ Chris Dlamini on 15/06/2022 08:30:00 MBABANE – It is becoming an open secret that Manzini Wanderers started preparing for next season a few months ago. The MTN Premier League 2021/22 curtain closed this past Sunday with defending champions Royal Leopard lifting the trophy again but hub giants, Wanderers finished their season about a fortnight ago. News that they would release only a handful of players and sign five to six started pouring in five games before their season ended. It also included changes in the technical bench which was headed by Velekhaya Mthethwa, who was assisted by Terisayi Changara. “The club long started its preseason, as we already knew we didn’t perform to our levels so we need to improve drastically next season. I’m happy that the MC has been working behind the scenes to try and improve the club going to next season. We heard they were bringing in Dodo from Zimbabwe and he’s a highly experienced coach who knows our football,” said an impeccable source within the club’s structures. This publication reported last week that Wanderers were attracting interests from some foreign coaches like Darling Dodo, former Denver Sundowns mentor; South Africa’s former national under-20 head coach Solly Luvhengo and Zimbabwean Mandla Mpofu. It has been revealed that Dodo has impressed the maroon and white outfit’s management and is expected to soon finalise a deal with the club’s South African Director Cedric Mashile Mathata. Interest However, the club’s Acting Chairman and Public Relations Officer (PRO) Mlungisi Ndzinisa could not be drawn to comment on the matter. He had not denied same when news of coaches showing interest in taking over from Mthethwa broke out. Instead, Ndzinisa had said they were a big team and acknowledged the interest. He explained that they would sit down and engage with the technical bench of Mthethwa and Changara, get their reports and then take it from there. Pressed further on Dodo being in the lead, Ndzinisa insisted the club would unveil new personnel, insisting on players who he said agreed personal terms before end of the season. He said they would have a brief break before resuming their preseason as they had the Bible Society Cup to play once again. The tournament is not part of the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) calendar and had played two editions before COVID-19 struck the country in March 2020, halting sports for about two years but elite and first division league football.
