Times Of Swaziland: NOBUHLE STAR-CROSSED IN E3.3M TOURNEY NOBUHLE STAR-CROSSED IN E3.3M TOURNEY ================================================================================ Ashmond Nzima on 06/06/2022 08:34:00 MBABANE – Ace golfer Nobuhle Dlamini looks to put the disappointment of a fruitless outing in Italy behind her when she heads to Sweden this week. The Lobamba-born golfer is fresh from the Italian Ladies Open where she was in chase of a share from an about E3.3 million purse. In the tournament played between this past Thursday and Saturday under the Ladies European Tour (LET) banner, the 30-year-old was unlucky to miss the cut after round two. She carded rounds of 76 and 74 to finish on six-over-par 150. The cut was at 149. Winning the tournament was Switzerland’s Morgan Meraux who got over half a million Emalangeni, thanks to her rounds 69, 70, 67 to finish on 10-under-par 206. The best finisher from the African continent was fourth-placed South Africa’s Casandra Alexander whose rounds of 69, 67 and 71 (nine-under-par 207) earned her over E200 000. Following the Italy setback, focus shifts to Sweden for Dlamini. The gifted golfer will be among ‘big guns’ who will take to the fairways for the Volvo Car Scandinavian event. The tournament with a gigantic prize fund of US$2000 000 (over E31.08 million) will be played from this coming Thursday at the 72-par Halmstad Golf Club in Sweden. The champion will be crowned after four gruelling rounds. As per the entries, Dlamini will tee-off alongside some of the big names from across the globe. They include South Africa’s Lee-Anne Pace (over E28 million in career earnings) and Annika Sorenstam from the host country, Sweden. The latter is often dubbed the Greatest of All Time (GOAT) of women’s golf. Meanwhile, Dlamini has featured prominently in Europe this year. She was in Madrid, Spain, last month where she was among the top 55 in a field of over 150 golfers. She got over E20 000, which was a share from the E4.9 million prize money.
