Times Of Swaziland: MTN LEAGUE BREAK MAY BE ABOLISHED MTN LEAGUE BREAK MAY BE ABOLISHED ================================================================================ Chris Dlamini on 19/05/2022 08:46:00 MBABANE – “When the fans roar, we listen and hear them.” That was the response by Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) Chief Operations Officer (COO) Pat Vilakati yesterday, when he was questioned about the MTN Premier League break timing due to national team Sihlangu having to go to camp. “We are aware the fans are concerned, we are aware that the league is at its peak and we’re not just sitting and doing nothing about it. We love our stakeholders, especially the fans. If one can be honest, we work closely with the EFA and we had informed clubs that we have to prepare for this period when the national team gets busy. “What is important though, is that we’re in talks with EFA and have always been in talks because if I may, EFA’s first correspondence had wanted Sihlangu full-time camp on May 15, but what happened, we played and are playing again tomorrow (today),” Vilakati said. He said, should their talks with EFA yield any changes, they would definitely inform the media either through a press conference of press release. Otherwise, the league is expected to take a slightly over two weeks break, as Sihlangu plays African Cup of Nation (AFCON) 2023 group stage qualifiers, the first game against Togo away on June 3, before hosting Burkina Faso on June 7. The league is set to resume soon after around June 12 and two matches will be remaining by then. After today, it will be two games remaining for every team. There had been an uproar by clubs and fans over the break when the league was best wrapped up at this stage, which is what teams had anticipated.
