ALLY CAN BE SOLE DIRECTOR – LANDERS’ PATRONS

MBABANE – Mbabane Highlanders patrons are willing to give the Managing
Director, Chief Ally Kgomongwe free reign as a sole director at the club under
the company status.
This was revealed by Patrons secretary, Musa Masuku, who said the South African
businessman still has three years remaining in his five-year contract and they
are happy with the way he is running the club. Kgomongwe was in a spot of bother
as the club’s company registration processes took longer than he had
anticipated. He had earlier indicated that those willing to join him in the club
directorship must be prepared to pay E4 million for a 25 per cent stake in the
club.
As a result of the delay of the club’s company registration, Highlanders
players only got paid their September salaries yesterday with those
out-of-contracts receiving half-pay.
Lawyers
“We have consulted two lawyers on how we can go about registering the team as
a company after having met all the supporters’ and branch chairmen who all
approved of the idea. “We want Ally to continue running the club because he
has done well. He can be a sole director, we just need to finalise everything
with him or his lawyer,” Masuku said. Masuku further revealed that they have
secured the name, Mbabane Highlanders (PTY) Ltd in the registration of companies
as the process of registration continues.
“There are three types of companies we can register the team under, which is
private, public and community. That’s where we need to agree on but in any
case, Kgomongwe has a five-year contract with us which must be half way through
now. We still want him to run the club,” Masuku added. The Highlanders Patrons
were locked in a lengthy meeting last night deliberating on the club’s company
registration process.
Finalising
Reached for comment, Kgomongwe confirmed that they are finalising the
registration process with the patrons and as a result he then decided to pay the
September salaries for the players after a slight delay. “I will also pay the
signing on fees for the players as soon as we overcome the company registration
hurdle which has been dragging. I even paid players who are out-of-contract
because they have families to feed. I can’t just dump them like that because
there are issues that need to be finalised,” Kgomongwe said.
