Times Of Swaziland: ECSA TARGETS BLACKBALL CHAMPS ECSA TARGETS BLACKBALL CHAMPS ================================================================================ BY CHRIS DLAMINI on 15/09/2021 08:40:00 MBABANE – Participation in the Zambia-billed AAPA Blackball Championships next year will come as the official return to the international stage for Eswatini pool. This will be in over a decade since hosting the World Blackball and Africa Championships in 2008. AAPA denotes All Africa Pool Association. It has been established that the Eswatini Cue Sport Association (ECSA), new as it is has the mandate to ensure international participation and they are wasting no time on it. “If all goes according to plan, we have Zambia to go to next March for AAPA Blackball Championships. As an association we believe and hope to have representation in the tournament particularly the senior national teams as funds may be limited,” ECSA President Muntu Dlamini affirmed. In a memo posted in the Manzini Regional Pool Association (MRPA) Facebook group page, it is explained that the Zambia Pool Union (ZPU) requested with AAPA that the event be held in March 2022 and that this was after seeking guidance from its government, which is still in transition. Required “The AAPA has granted the request, taking into account the several things required of the ZPU as hosts. Let us all accept this change in good faith. The AAPA will send invites to all participants in good time, and any updates will also be communicated, thank you,” reads AAPA Secretary David Mugabi’s statement on the competition. Dlamini said members accepted the request and were currently preparing towards that tournament. “I really hope that the jabs are our solution to COVID-19 and it comes to an end soon,” he said. Dlamini also added that he hoped all pool players were aware that AAPA was their conduit (channel) to the world not only for Blackball but also for 9BALL, 10BALL and Chinese Pool while also providing lots of international opportunities. Players can access it through the World Pool Association (WPA) website; www.wpapool.com. Meanwhile, national teams’ selection is expected to start at the end of this month until the first week of October.
