‘BULL’ SUPPORTERS, ALLY MEET

MBABANE – Following reports that Chief Ally Kgomongwe might be leaving Mbabane
Highlanders, supporters have had a chance to get explanations from the horse’s
mouth.
It has been reliably gathered that the ‘Black Bull’ supporters were able to
meet the South Africa-born businessman on Saturday at the team’s training
facility, the Casino Sports Ground in Ezulwini. Though the gist of the meeting
remains vague, the capital giants’ National Supporters Committee (NSC)
Chairman Kenneth Dlamini has just toned it down to a ‘courtesy visit’.

Dlamini said it was not a meeting per se but supporters took advantage to pay
the team Managing Director (MD) a visit. “It was not necessarily a meeting; it
was just a courtesy visit. They took advantage of the fact that he was currently
in the country and the supporters knew they would get a chance to greet him on
Saturday at the Casino Sports Ground following a failed attempt the previous day
at Mavuso Sports Centre where Highlanders was playing,” said the chairman. He
refuted allegations that this was an attempt by the supporters to convince the
director to stay at Highlanders. “Of course they got the chance to ask if
indeed it was really out of his control and he needed to leave. The director got
a chance to also clearly explain to the Highlanders’ loyalists his position on
the matter,” said Dlamini.
Otherwise, the chairman said the supporters’ intentions were to exchange
pleasantries with Kgomongwe and express their appreciation for all his efforts
to put Highlanders where it is now. Dlamini said with the issues of COVID-19
restrictions, it had been a while since the supporters had had a chance to meet
the director. Meanwhile, the team supporters recently petitioned Kgomongwe’s
royal family.

The petition was signed by a total of 52 supporters which include the NSC,
branch chairpersons and other supporters. The black and white supporters
petition was requesting the Kgomongwe household to allow Ally to continue as
Highlanders boss for the next three years, which is when his 5-year contract
will come to an end. This was after reports that the director will be stepping
down at the end of the season due to work commitments in his home country. The
MD also confirmed this, highlighting that he was yet to meet his family but
indicated that he loved Highlanders and the supporters which he held dearly to
his heart.
