One of Eswatini’s queens of fitness, Zama Potgieter, has once again hoisted the kingdom’s flag in the recent Bigman Weekend South Africa Regional Qualifiers held on Friday. Potgieter scooped position four in the wellness masters’ division over-35, a line-up that was won by South Africa’s Shelly Collins and took home a medal for her hard work. Sparkling in a midnight blue crystal K-Lee Creations designer bikini that highlighted her muscle definition, Potgieter was flawlessly confident as she strut her stuff when posing for the panel of judges and thanked the Studio-Z Gym team of ladies that came to support her. Inclusive Portgieter also thanked her personal coach Mary-Ellen Carmody and Jack Lotter, who is an online trainer and muscle model. The competition, which had an inclusive athletes package ranging between E6 000 and E9 000 divisions, comprised of the women’s bodybuilding or women’s physique, wellness or classic physique, figure, bikini model, men’s bodybuilding or wheelchair. “Thank you everyone for the well wishes. So tired but satisfied we achieved the goal which was to be better than my last package,” Portgieter took to her Facebook page after the competition. Speaking on her experience of the show, which was the first for her to partake in under the COVID-19 era, Portgieter acknowledged that there were changes in terms of spectators, which were limited as compared to previous shows as the competition was held in respect of the COVID-19 rules and regulations. “The competition was different in terms of fullness of the auditorium as numbers were restricted but I’m grateful to have had my Studio-Z and family support. I’m grateful to have achieved the package in this competition with my coach Mary Carmody and the sherrif training system,” said Potgieter. The Studio-z ladies only gym coach was crowned champion of her first-ever international show, the I-Candy, got second place in the Bigman show in 2019 prior to her recent achievement.
