Times Of Swaziland: ‘COVID-19 DERAILED SWIMMING STANDARDS’ ‘COVID-19 DERAILED SWIMMING STANDARDS’ ================================================================================ BY NTOKOZO MAGONGO on 21/11/2020 23:27:00 (At Enjabulweni School) MANZINI – Local swimmers are eager to improve their standard after the long layoff due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Swimmers were back in action yesterday during the Age Gala after about eight months out of action. They were last in action in March, 2020 during the national championships. Some of the dominant swimmers observed that the standard of swimming was a little bit low and there was a need to work hard and improve. They, however, revealed their pure joy at having competitions back. Hayley Hoy, who dominated last year, said she would have to work hard at training in a bid to improve her performance. “We will have to improve and that can be achieved through hard work,” she said Swim Lab swimmer Luca Fraser said he believed that in no time, they would be back competing at a higher level. Eswatini Swimming Association (ESA) President Herman Jele said they were happy that finally they were back in action and will be following all the safety guidelines for the COVID-19 pandemic. “The standard was never going to be the same after the long layoff. We are happy that we are back in action and there is still a lot of work to be done to improve the level of competition,” he conceded.
