Times Of Swaziland: ‘WESLIANS’ ELDERS NAME OWN NSC ‘WESLIANS’ ELDERS NAME OWN NSC ================================================================================ BY CHRIS DLAMINI on 29/10/2020 00:53:00 MBABANE – It’s not so wonderful at Manzini Wanderers as the tail is wagging the dog - again. Just like many preseasons before, the club’s authorities and supporters are at loggerheads and this is evidenced by the latest reports. Yesterday, the supporters were in the headlines having appointed an interim national supporters committee for their team in defiance of the council of elders. The latter had last week disbanded the club’s NSC and management committee (MC) to pave way for its prospective director from South Africa so he can appoint his own MC and new a supporters’ structure will then be elected. In response to the illegitimate interim NSC chaired by disbanded MC member Vusi ‘Majay’vane’ Dlamini, who was Brand Manager, the hub giants’ elders named their own NSC. This is only a few days after confirming an interim MC led by former player Moses Khumalo as General Manager. “The national supporters committee comprises also representatives from the four regions of the country as follows; Chairman - Mthunzi Dlamini Vice Chairman - Colo Dlamini (Big Bend) Secretary - Sizwe ‘Motaung’ Shongwe Member/Treasurer - Nonto Riry Mkhonta (Fairview – Manzini) Member - Pununu Mhlanga (Mbabane) Member - Nkululeko Mthimkhulu (Siteki) Member - Musa Gamedze Member - Bongani Sikhondze (Manzini City) “The other members have been roped in to undertake specific tasks while the committee is settling in,” explains Elders Council Chairman Joe Nkumane in a press statement. Called about this as it meant two committees for one team, Nkumane distanced the club from the interim committee. “We don’t know any interim committee. We don’t even know where they met and voted and who voted. Manzini Wanderers have structures and the one in the newspapers is not among them but our NSC is as appointed last week when we had our meeting,” he said. In the statement, Nkumane said they learned with dismay that a small so-called group of supporters held a meeting to elect a committee without knowledge of the hierarchy of the club. “We condemn this action in the strongest terms and apologise to the hordes of supporters, followers, respectable elders of the club for the degrading episode that is painting a bad image of the club. We also apologise to the incoming director and assure him that he will be supported by the club in all he will bring to our club,” he wrote. Benefit He encouraged the incoming director not to be disturbed by these developments ‘engineered by people who have no idea about effects of what they do’. He said as council of elders, they never closed their doors to anyone who wanted to contribute to the welfare of the club for its benefit as opposed to that of individuals. Nkumane said they understood the anxiety on the directorship issue but he was only just at their gate step and only waiting to be formally unveiled to the supporters. He said the director was also aware of the team’s financial challenges and was working on that, which included ensuring players, old and new, were all taken care of. “We take this opportunity to thank sincerely the outgoing members for their dedication as they worked under very difficult conditions, especially as there were no funds to sustain the club’s operations. Similarly we welcome the new members and wish them success in their new responsibilities,” Nkumane appealed. He further explained that former MC Chairman Bongane ‘Bhanyaza’ Mdluli was now the club’s Legal Advisor.
