Times Of Swaziland: EX-PLE MAN DEMANDS E350 000 COMMISSION EX-PLE MAN DEMANDS E350 000 COMMISSION ================================================================================ BY SABELO NDZINISA on 30/09/2020 00:51:00 MBABANE – He wants his share in 14 days. A former Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) Executive Committee member (name deliberately withheld) is demanding to be paid E350 000 by the organisation as 10 per cent share for allegedly securing league sponsorship with Swazi MTN (now MTN Eswatini). In a letter dated September 23, 2020 and addressed to the current PLE Chairman Mark Carmichael, the member in question is alleging that save for paying him only E10 000, the rest of the money allegedly owed to him has not been settled despite that, such is now due, owing and payable. It is stated in the same letter that this member is foregoing payments in respect of the Ingwenyama Cup and the Eswatini Charity Cup. He stated that this decision was informed by the fact that negotiations of those sponsorships also involved the Eswatini Football Association (EFA). Respect “I am only pursuing the claim in respect of MTN as that one was exclusively negotiated by the executive committee of the PLE. In the circumstances, the balance of the amount due, owing and payable to me is the sum of E350 000 (Three Hundred and Fifty Thousand Emalangeni). “I am accordingly demanding payment of the said amount within fourteen (14) days hereof,” the letter states. However, Carmichael promptly responded on this payment demand in a letter dated September 23, 2020 addressed to the member in question. The Denver Sundowns Chairman made it clear that such demand would not be honoured by the organisation. “Kindly be advised that the PLE Executive Committee has since considered your claim as articulated in the said letter. “Sadly, we advise that the records in our possession do not include any debt due, owing and payable to yourself. “Consequently, we are unable to honour your demand in the absence of any supporting documents. “Should you perhaps have any documents that support your claim, please kindly furnish them to the office of the chief operations officer. “We trust that you will find the above to be in perfect order,” the letter, signed by Carmichael, states. In his response contained in a letter dated September 29, 2020 that is reported to have been delivered to Carmichael, the member is making it clear that he was not satisfied with the PLE stance on his claim. Handed “In any event, I have handed over the matter to my attorneys with whom you shall hence forth deal,” the member stated in the letter. PLE Chief Operations Officer (COO) Pat Vilakati could only confirm that the issue in question had been addressed by his superiors. “Yes, there was a letter from a former executive committee member but I cannot reveal the contents. All I can confirm is that the chairman has responded on it,” Vilakati said briefly. The member was also reached but he politely asked not to comment.
