MBABANE – ‘Talking is my job.” this is what the lively Victor
‘Mavikane’ Dlamini said after he was announced as the Athletics Eswatini
(AE) new Public Relations Officer (PRO).
He took over the position from former Manzini Wanderers PRO Sihle Mamba who was
appointed last year. Dlamini’s appointment was confirmed by AE President
Zakhele Dlamini yesterday during a press conference at the Olympic and
Commonwealth Games Association (EOCGA) offices.
Mavikane’s appointment comes after he was also announced as the TZD Lubombo
Marathon spokesperson last year but the event was suspended due to the COVID-19
pandemic.
“AE is pleased to unveil its new PRO. This gentleman is known to you all and
he is a seasoned veteran in the field of public relations. He comes with
enormous experience ranging from different sporting codes. AE has confidence
that Dlamini will add value in the association and that the public and all
stakeholders will now be better informed of the association activities,” he
said.
‘Mavikane’ said he was ready for the challenge ahead of him and working
together was what would promote the sport. “Talking is my job, as a tea
cher professionally. It is unfortunate that I will not be able to invite people
to come and witness the razzmatazz that will be there during the national
championships as fans are barred from the competitions,” he said.

‘Mavikane’ said he was well-versed when it came to athletes as he was the
former TZD Lubombo Marathon PRO. Meanwhile, the out-going PRO Sihle Mamba said
he was grateful to AE for the opportunity they gave him.
“It has been wonderful meeting the team and learning more about the athletics
vision. I will always enjoy having a chance to talk with other high profile
people of other sports. AE seems like one excellent home. I love the fact that
you are all committed to cross department collaboration. And it was great to
hear so many people outside the team participate in a creative process. In my
experience, that level of cooperation results in the best outcome,” he said.
Mamba said he was excited as he learnt a lot while serving the association.
“Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a lot has happened, and I need to now go and
further my studies. Thank you for everything. I honestly appreciate the love,
respect and all the praises from you all. Thank you for your loyal support. I
salute you all,” he concluded.
