Times Of Swaziland: WE’LL GET LEKATA REPLACEMENT –‘BULL’ WE’LL GET LEKATA REPLACEMENT –‘BULL’ ================================================================================ BY CHRIS DLAMINI on 16/09/2020 01:03:00 MBABANE – South African striker Josef Lekata’s transfer by Mbabane Highlanders could haunt them next season when football resumes in the country. Put on transfer recently by the black and white outfit, the EswatiniTelecom Charity Cup winner for Highlanders with his three goals was becoming a key part of the club’s forward line before COVID-19 struck back in March. “Lekata was for me the best in the league. All he needed was for the technical bench to work around the midfield for creative supply to him but he’s gone now,” commented one of the club’s top technical officials last season but on condition of anonymity. The official noted that Lekata was also the top goal scorer in the Charity Cup last August and further went on to nearly win the Mbabane derby against Swallows in the MTN Premier League before his goal was inexplicably denied while he also scored in other games too. Injuries However, he still had a fair share of injuries that kept him on the side lines. “We know Lekata was an important player but since he’s gone now, we’ll get a replacement. We certainly need strikers who can just score goals for us consistently,” responded Highlanders’ South African Chairman Chief Ally Kgomongwe. He said while Lekata was put on transfer at Highlanders, their relationship was not finished as the striker would be playing for Ally’s Tigers next season. Tigers play in the ABC Motsepe League, South Africa’s third tier football league. Kgomongwe owns the club, currently seeking to buy GladAfrica Championship status. “It’s him and Mashele who are joining us at Tigers,” Kgomongwe said. Mashele (Patrick), also fondly known as Nando’s by fans, played for Highlanders briefly last season and got released in January by late coach Thabo ‘Koki’ Vilakati.
